In Front of the Lens: Life of the Modern Woman

Carly Haas-2.png

Today I’m featuring local Saskatoon girl Carly Haas. I met Carly at my fall 2019 Model Mini Sessions and I instantly fell in love with her look, style, and energy. The whole time I was working with Carly, I kept thinking.. ‘Where has this girl been?!’ Not only was she a real pleasure to photograph, I learned that she’s also a Mom, a full time student, and works at Hillberg and Berk as a Client Ambassador. And if her schedule wasn’t full enough, she’s been picking up more local modelling work - you may even catch her walking for Larvana at the Sip and Shop event at Lavish on the 28th (get your tickets HERE!).

Enjoy today’s Feature Friday, and thanks to Carly for allowing me to pick her brain while tending to her busy schedule. Also, don’t forget to sign up for my updates! This is your chance to be the first to know about the popular upcoming studio sessions, and events that happen periodically.

Hey Carly, can you introduce yourself to us?

Hey, I’m Carly! Born and raised in Saskatchewan! I’m currently working full time while in school for graphic design, and Modelling with STRAY Management which makes me a pretty busy lady but I absolutely love it!

How long is your Graphic Design Program, and where do you take it?

My program is 2 years! I take the online graphic design and interactive media course with the Toronto Film school and I have about a year and a half left. So wish me luck!

What does a day in life look like for you?

7:00am - wake up, lay in bed start watching a show of some sort (I’m a sucker for anything true crime)

7:15am - start making coffee. Coffee is what gets me through the day. I may have a slight addiction!

7:30-8:00 am - get myself and my son dressed for the day

8:30am - daycare or school drop off

9:00am - 4pm - Work

5:00pm - daycare pick up

After 6 Pm I leave my evenings pretty free during the week so I have the chance to spend the evenings with my son and to be able to spend time with myself! Whether it’s working out, cleaning around my apartment, reading a a book, or even just relaxing watching a movie. I think it’s important to have that time to destress and I’m working hard on making it a priority for myself.

You mentioned you have a coffee ADDICTION, what’s your go to brand?

I’m for sure a Tim Hortons girl! But I’m coffee obsessed but not quite a connoisseur. I will drink any type, I have no shame in drinking instant coffee at home!

What is one thing that most people don't know about you?

One thing people probably don’t know about me would be that I absolutely LOVE word searches it’s actually one of my favourite things to do when I have downtime.

If you could fix one thing in the world what would it be?

One thing I wish I could change In the world would honestly be people’s kindness. It’s a small thing but it makes the biggest change and difference in a persons day or life! Just by letting the people around you know how much they are appreciated.

Would you be willing to share a couple of your goals for 2020?

I have a few goals for 2020 but a big goal of mine is to have the chance to do some travelling which has been a dream of mine for so many years so I want to make it a reality in 2020! And another goal of mine is to be more active within social media!

Where would you like to travel?

Honestly anywhere in Europe is on my bucket list, but at the top right now is France, Italy, and Spain!

What inspired you to book a photoshoot, and what do you plan to use the photos for?

I was inspired to book a shoot was this past summer I took part in a modelling camp in Calgary where Coco Rocha was the guest instructor which was an amazing experience in itself. So not long after coming back from that you were advertising a portfolio update package and I thought who would could be better to update my portfolio than with someone who truly inspires me!

Working with Coco Rocha must’ve been so cool! What was the biggest lesson you took from her?

I learned so much from Coco the few days she was with us. One of the things that I work on everyday is POSTURE . Good posture is everything!

What is your favourite photo, and why?

My favourite photo would be this one because I love how simple it is and I feel absolutely beautiful when I see it!
