Summer Review: My Top Ten Images

Another season is about to end, with a new one begining. This summer, I worked on over sixty different photography projects, and loaded tens of thousands of images onto my computer. The summer season is short in Saskatchewan, but oh so beautiful. It may even be one of the most challenging seasons to shoot in. What I mean by that is, you have to have patience when it comes to the direction of the sun, the intensity of the light and shadows, and also be aware of not overexposing the background (learned that lesson once).

I wanted to narrow down the images to recap the summer. I decided to pick images that were either part of a large commercial project, or evoked an emotion from me. There are so many to chose from, and so many I would’ve loved to have added to the list, but I decided to only chose ten!

This is what I was able to narrow it down to.

  1. Saskatchewan Roughrider merch campaign |

I was very honoured and excited to be the photographer for the Saskatchewan Roughrider Merch campaign for 2019. This was a full day of shooting (11 hours), and multiple locations. I think you can even find some of my images on their website and around the province on local billboards.

2. ian and Rachel engagement |

These two melt my heart. I’ll be shooting their wedding in February 2020 and I’m so excited to work with them again. This was an image that I thought was so beautiful and catches the authenticity of their love.

3. jessica squires beach shoot |

Jessica is a new model with NUMA Models. She wanted some images for her book that would present her as a swimsuit model and open her up to more opportunities for beach shoots. We shot this at Poplar Bluffs south of Saskatoon. It’s a lovely location with plenty of beach! There was even another photoshoot going on when we arrived (talk about a hot spot).

4. tasha and Mike wedding |

I open my services up for a few weddings a year, and this was one of the ones I was lucky enough to shoot. Tasha and Mike are a very warm couple, and great to work with. I love this picture because it makes me feel like we’re at some exotic location overseas or maybe even Brooklyn, New York - which we were not. I also love their playfulness in this shot.

5. Jess Moskaluke promo Shoot |

Working with Jess was such a great experience. She’s very warm and open, and makes you feel like your instant best friends. I chose this image because she looks so badass! I’m sure you’ll be seeing some of these images around for promo shots or on upcoming albums. Here’s a link to Jess’s website and tour schedule.

6. Trend Blazer branding shoot |

This is my sister! Or as some people think… my twin! We collaborated on a branding project for her company to create content for her website and her social media. Our inspiration was In Style magazine. Here’s a link to her website.

7. Pointe Tango creative Shoot |

PointeTango is an amazingly talented duo from Argentina that were in town for the Saskatoon Fringe. They put on a spectacular performance and won, ‘Best of the Festival’. I highly suggest checking them out in person if you can, or find them online HERE.

8. Jesse Brown Artist Shoot |

It seems to be lately, that I’ve been working with more and more artists. Back in August I worked with the talented Jesse Brown, who is an amazing piano player. The day of our shoot happened to be super cloudy, and the light was quite dim inside. I had a plan to work with available light, and so I worked with what was in the space to create a moody feel. What I love about this image is the warm tones and the special moments between Jesse and Fozzy.

9. SCHOLARSHIP winner of the performer headshot Award |

Every year I offer a professional headshot scholarship to the Performer Dance Competition. This was the winner from 2019, Nicole Katelnikoff. I chose this because it seems like a very honest portrait, and I think she looks so beautiful.

10. Teen Beauty Workshop Shoot |

This last one was taken just last week at the Teen Beauty Workshop with Holly Decker. These girls were so sweet and loved modelling for the camera! I just had the best time with them! This is Caprice, and it was taken inside Living Sky Cafe in downtown Saskatoon.
