Introducing White Space

I’ve been on the hunt for a place I could call a studio for a while… and similarly to the story of Goldilocks, the spaces I would come across would either be way too big, too small, ceilings too low, require too much work, or just not feel right! After almost giving up on finding the perfect studio space… I happened to do one last pass on the real estate sites in January…and as you may have guessed, I found it!

March kicks off my first month at White Space Photo Studio, which is where I will now do the majority of my shooting. I’m really looking forward to a change of scenery, new inspiration, and sharing a beautiful studio with my clients and other photographers.

White Space Photo Studio

Design Inspiration

In 2019, or pre-pandemic as we now like to call it.. I booked a whirlwind trip to Seattle to watch my boyfriend’s band play. While there, I booked a shoot as I often like to do when travelling. Not knowing anything about Seattle, or where to shoot, I booked a studio space in the hip area of town, Capital Hill.

The Seattle studio had white walls, white floors, a white ceiling and had a cozy feel. It proved to be a comfortable and easy place for taking great photos, and since that experience I have been dreaming of opening a similar studio space.

The Name

I’ve always been a fan of bright open spaces and minimalism. I love the term white space because it represents a modern and clean aesthetic that I constantly feel inspired by. With the studio name, White Space, I hope to create a room just like definition.. a space that leaves room for the imagination, while also being bright and beautiful.

This, is White Space.

About the Studio

White Space is located in the heart of downtown Saskatoon in the historical York Building. There are several local businesses that operate out of the York Bldg. including: The Vivary Spa, The Brow Babe, Primp Lash Lounge, Braids by the Crew, Gemini Studios, and local fashion designer Kathleen O’Grady.

The studio is 400 square feet with a designated area for hair and makeup, an area for hanging your garments, and a cozy seating area.
